The Doctor Who thread
I don’t really know Doctor Who, but Russell Tovey doesn’t look like an incarnation of the Doctor to me.

Seconded.
Thirded. However, its an academic point really. Since Russel T Davies is leaving he won’t really get a say in the casting when it eventually comes around.

Pierre’s first rumour is just crazy. How would that ever happen?

Pierre’s last highlightable quote is awesome

It looks like Coventry is going to host the Doctor Who exhibition next year:

A scam like between the two parts of last year’s finale?

:frowning:

I’m surprised they chose to announce it so soon. I suppose they couldn’t have kept it secret though since the final specials will be aired after filming starts on series 5. At that point the lack of David Tennant would be almost impossible to keep secret.

It has been revealed…

The eleventh doctor is click here to find out!

don’t think anyone could ever be as good as david tennant, but the new doctor has at least got the kooky charm which is a must for the role!! :o

It’s not a must…
I mean, I personally don’t find it applies to either of the first four Doctors! :stuck_out_tongue:

But the role has had to evolve over the 45 years… it’d be hellish otherwise :!:

Can I just say I am seriously impressed at the ratings? A show, designed for geeks who need to know who the eleventh Doctor is, manages to beat the FA Cup and make 6.1m viewers (and that’s overnight!!!)
Doctor Who has become a rather major event in Britian, hasn’t it?
I don’t think the same would happen for Star Trek…

It most definitely wouldn’t… though the fact that Star Trek is thoroughly American rather than imperiously British might have something to do with it!

All right then, it wouldn’t happen for James Bond then!

Only because ITV bash the granny out of it every Christmas ! 8)

It could do - the Bond thing wouldn’t be as geeky after all, what with him being a pretty big film-type role… i certainly remember a fair bit of fuss prior to Daniel Craig’s appointment

Hehe - just found these two great pictures:

Also, a quite shocking piece of news - which has not made it to Outpost Gallifrey yet

There will be a monthly Doctor Who comic book series from July!

Just found out something that might unite the Doctor Who and Star Trek threads!

Sorry but it doesn’t seem to like the slightly complicated url (and sorry to everyone who isn’t Pierre for the extreme levels of geekyness in this post).
