Animations at the Venice International Film Festival

I found a BBC article about the Venice International Film Festival and there are quite a few possible award winning films mentioned that might be worth bearing in mind for Spring (or Summer).

The Japanese animations in particular are probably worth keeping an eye on as they both look like they could make money. Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea is the latest film by the guy who did Spirited away and The Sky Crawlers is from the guy who did Ghost in the Shell.

Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea will be released in the UK in April 2009 according to IMDB, should be ready for us in Autumn 2009.

Just discovered that Ponyo will be released in August 2009.
Maybe a bit late for showing it in Autumn term.
