What is ur interpretation of the end of ‘A serious man’?

I was quite confused by the end (even more so than with most Coen Brother films). Also, what was the relevance of the pre-opening credits scene?

I enjoyed the soundtrack.

Sarah and I were singing along in the Proj box - funtimes!
I think it was an all round brilliant film.

just the end left me quite disappointed…
