Some of the public’s shortlisted films don’t tie in well with the Oscars… but they do tie in well with our attendances

How pesky - I want to wait for a couple until I’ve watched Monsters, but the voting closes before then…
I must say that I found it difficult to go by genre when I was putting my preferences during the first round. E.g. I would consider Black Swan a drama not a thriller, yet there was no drama category, and now it and Shutter Island are both up for Best Thriller I don’t know which to pick on their merits in that genre!
And Toy Story 3’s a comedy
Nice to see the public giving a wholly different perspective - especially as that mainly agreed with my thoughts!
Awards for Inception, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Scott Pilgrim, Kick-Ass and Gary Oldman - all cool in my books
Some good choices for winners. The only exception is Best Sci-Fi/ Fantasy. How did Harry Potter beat Inception, Scott Pilgrim and Kick-Ass?!?
Perhaps because each film was allowed to win only one award.
