Empire's top 20 of 2011

Empire have listed their top 20 films of the year:

20: Fast Five
19: The Adventures of Tintin
18: The Tree of Life
17: Incendies
16: Super 8
15: The Inbetweeners Movie
14: We Need to Talk about Kevin
13: Hanna
12: The Fighter
11: Blue Valentine
10: Black Swan
09: Rise of the Planet of the Apes
08: Bridesmaids
07: True Grit
06: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
05: The Artist
04: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2
03: The King’s Speech
02: Senna
01: Drive

While I agree with a lot of it, I really think X-Men: First Class should be on there (and maybe even Thor too if you look at some of the films that made it on).

How distressing - I’ve only watched 13 of those.

And I’ve seen Fast Five but not Bridesmaids!

I’ve only seen 7:
The Fighter, Black Swan, Tinker Tailor, Harry, King’s Speech, Senna & Drive.

In a truly shocking twist, I’ve seen fewer of them than Ed has :-/

I would agree though that X-Men was more than worthy of a place, and I’d have both Source Code and Limitless in before Fast Five and possibly Hanna too.

As for the order itself, I can’t for the life of me see how Harry Potter is ahead of the likes of Tinker Tailor or Black Swan.

I’ve seen eight of the films, and I found Harry Potter inferior to True Grit and Black Swan.

I’ve also seen 7.

Looking through Wikipedia’s list of films released in 2011, I could only count five films released this year I’ve seen that I thought were any good:

Paul
The King’s Speech
X-Men: First Class
Harry Potter 8
The Inbetweeners

And I’ve seen Tinker, Tailor, and thought it was rubbish.

*True Grit *and Black Swan would have made my list but didn’t appear on Wikipedia’s list :s

That’s because Wikipedia’s list is for US/Canada release dates, and Empire is a British mag/website
