It seems that Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Taking Woodstock) is working on adapting Yann Martel’s story of a shipwrecked Indian boy (Pi) drifting across the Pacific on a lifeboat inhabited by a number of zoo animals, including a Bengal tiger called Richard Parker.
He thinks he might use CGI for the animals. Whilst not a normal advocate of CGI, I’d say in this case it’d be the sensible call!
Has anyone else read the book, and if so what did you think? I read it over the summer while travelling and loved it, but my backpacking companions felt rather cheated and nonplussed…
