How is Tintin not in the animation section?!

I was pretty surprised by that too (Empire seemed to question whether it was submitted for the award at all). Really glad to see Tinker Tailor pick up a few nominations (the guy on BBC seemed to think it might get ignored altogether). Looks good for The Artist too.

Especially as it won the equivalent award at the Golden Globes.

Seems a ridiculous oversight or carelessness to me - couldn’t snub the great Mr Spielberg intentionally, could they?!

Empire have run an article on the big Oscar injustices this year:

Tin Tin and Spielberg obviously get a mention as well as Tilda Swinton and Drive which I’ve seen mentioned in other articles about the OScar nominations.

A couple of interesting ones I’d missed though:
[list]
*]Arrietty didn’t get a nomination for Best Animation (and look what did)
*]Senna didn’t get nominated for best Documentary
*]The Skin I Live In didn’t get a nomination for Best Foreign Language film

:frowning:

The Artist has just won 7 Baftas… looks like it’s walking to a win in everything!

This article on the BBC for nominees and winners of the Best Picture category, partitioned by decade and genre is pretty interesting for all those who are interested:

This page made me chuckle:

Jesus people, why hasn’t anyone posted this yet?! I’m full-time employed and I’ve posted it!!!

If Les Miserables wins Best Film over the rest, I might cry a little inside.
