The Doctor Who thread

See, I was expecting old to balance out Matt Smith’s youngness.
But as Gaby said, we’ll see. I’m not too concerned with Matt Smith, as he’s shown, at least in Party Animals that he was a great actor.

I’d have probably been more concerned if the new companion had been a lot older. The Doctor’s companions have always been younger (with the exception of Catherine Tate who was only a couple of years older). I’d be worried that a particularly old companion might risk changing the dynamic of the show and undermine the Doctor authority/ experience.

Dr Who fans will be taking over the world with their reforms before too long!

For anyone who doesn’t know the new series starts on Saturday at 6:20pm.

There’s a trailer here.

Let’s play Guess the attendance, shall we?
I’m thinking 8.7m overnight, with 9.2 consolidated ratings (BBC One + HD)

8.4 overnight, with 8.9 consolidated.

How harsh is this…

…to daleks?

Enjoy…

This is definitely freakier though… :shock

I didn’t really enjoy this Christmas’ Doctor Who special.

Stephen Moffat, who used to be so clever with his plots, now seems to have gone for silly as the solution. I did love the ‘every Christmas Eve’ subplot though!

I liked it. Different from the other Christmas specials (or any other Doctor Who episode) and it had some nice ideas in it.

R.I.P. Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane).

Apparently Twitter’s been going mad in a ‘not sure if it’s just a viral fib’ kinda way, but it’s now in the breaking news on the BBC website.

Very sad news. :frowning:

After 9 pages it looks like this thread might actually be relevant to filmsoc!

:shock

I believe I speak for myself and many others when I say: Boo!

Why has this thread been viewed so many times?

It’s the most viewed thread on the forums, with well over twice the views of The Night Owl thread, yet it only has about 10% of the number of posts thereof.

Most odd…

I’d guess its something external to the society. As I understand it (and I may be wrong) various automated search programs can go on the forums and this is the most posted on thread in the public area.

Aah… that might indeed explain it.

Just over a year since the previous post to this thread, but doctor, who will be next?
